2NE1 is taking over the KPop scene!

We featured their debut appearance - in the song Lollipop with the boy band Big Bang - on the blog and on the GLOBAILE Podcast. Shortly after that debut, they released their first solo single Fire. Lykke Li - Swedish Soul

Sweden really knows how to produce amazing pop singers! You already know we love Robyn, and today we present another Swede we love - Lykke Li.

Lykke Li is an alternative singer who blends elements of pop, electronic, soul and alternative rock. Her music is rich, and often includes violins, tambourines, trumpets, saxophones, and cellos.

Li was born in Sweden, but went on to live in Portugal, Morocco, Nepal, India, and Brooklyn NY before returning back home to Stockholm to record her album. Her worldly upbringing is apparent in her eclectic sound.

Here is one of her biggest hits, Little Bit. We featured in on the November episode of the GLOBAILE Podcast - go download it for free!

Happy Thanksgiving - Apache music from Yolanda Martinez

To all the Americans: Happy Thanksgiving!

We know that Thanksgiving can be a controversial holiday, considering it's history involves a brutal war and the genocide of the Native American people. However, we like to to think of Thanksgiving as a day of PEACE. A day of cease-fire. A day when two warring enemies laid down their arms, and came together to break bread.

Earlier this year, we learned from Peace Day, that even if enemies only stop fighting for one day, that one day can have incredible importance and amazing results.

In honor of the Native American community, today we celebrate their rich history of music. Here is a song from Yolanda Martinez, an Apache/Mexican Native American. Enjoy this powerful ode to the beauty and wonder of Mother Earth.

M3NSA - Ghana's Hiplife Hustler

Young Jeezy is played out - M3NSA has the new hustler's anthem.

M3NSA is one of the most respected rappers in Ghana. Fusing nu-jazz, soul, hip hop, and afrobeat, he raps in English with bits of Twi and Pidgen mixed in. He was named among the top 50 Ghanaians to watch by BBC, and just released his first international album in October.

He has been one of the mainstays of the Ghana music scene since the beginning of the hiplife movement.

Hiplife is a Ghanaian musical style which fuses highlife and hip hop. Highlife is a native genre from Ghana known for jazzy horns and multiple guitars with an uptempo, synth-driven sound. Mix in hip hop with dancehall and reggae influences, and you have hiplife.

Recorded in Ghanaian languages such as Twi, Ewe and Ga, hiplife is rapidly gaining popularity throughout West Africa and abroad, especially in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Germany.

Check out this hiplife hustler's anthem from M3NSA - Adjuma.
