Björk - Moomins and the Comet Chase

Our favorite Icelandic girl is back!

It's been a while since we heard from Björk. So of course - she's coming back to the spotlight with something unexpected. And amazing.

Björk has penned music for the European cartoon film, Moomins and the Comet Chase. Produced by the Finnish company Filmkompaniet, the Moomins movie is a stop motion film compiled from the Comet in Moominland episodes of the original Moomins TV series from the late 1970s.

The plot of the film is pretty creepy for a kid's movie. One day Moomintroll wakes to notice that grey dust is covering everything in the Moominvalley. Through counsel from friends and elders, Moomintroll discovers that a comet is headed right for Moominvalley - and he only has 4 hours to save his family and loved ones.

Whoa.

Who better to make creepy awesome music for a creepy awesome kids movie? Of course - Björk! As you can tell from the photo above, Björk has been a Moomins fan for years, so the project couldn't be a more perfect fit.

Here's a video for The Comet Song. To watch a trailer for the film, go here. It's already out in Europe, and should have its USA release some time in 2011.
