Bonde do Rolê - Baile Funk Madness
The raunchy sexy crazy bangin music and dance that comes of Brazil never ceases to amaze me...
This time we're talking about Baile Funk, also known as Funk Carioca and Favela Funk. It's a high-energy type of dance music from Rio de Janeiro, derived from Miami bass. Baile Funk samples electronic drum loops, Brazilian hand drums in tamborzão rhythms, horns, and accordions. The genre refers not only to the music, but to the actual parties or discothèques where the music is played - and these parties are BANANAS!
Baile Funk reached it's most international recognition thanks to Diplo and the Baile Funk song Bucky Done Gun that he produced for M.I.A.
Here is a loco jam from Bonde do Rolê - another group that received early support from Diplo. Rolling Stone calls them "Brazilian party starters" - and when you see this video you have to agree.
This sh*it is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S!
